Airport parking near Denver cost me $480, now I take the train from Aurora every trip
Last August I flew out for a week and used the economy lot by DIA. Thought I was being smart at $28 a day. Got back, total was $196 and the shuttle took 40 minutes. This time I parked at the A Line station in Aurora for free and paid $10.50 for the train ride. One way. The ride is 37 minutes but at least I'm not circling for a spot or waiting on a bus. Is the extra walking and timing worth it to everyone else, or do some of you still swear by driving and parking?

Parked at the Gateway Park lot for years before I finally did the math and realized I was burning like $200 a trip plus shuttle time. Now I just drive to the Peoria station, leave my car there for free, and hop on the A Line. Ten bucks each way and I'm at the terminal in under 40 minutes, no shuttle, no hunting for a spot at 5am. The trick is giving yourself a little buffer, because if you cut it too close and miss your train you're waiting 15 to 30 minutes for the next one. I still drive if it's a super short trip or if I'm flying back late and don't want to deal with the last train timing. But for anything over a few days the train wins every time, the savings alone pay for a nice dinner on the trip.
