That 30 day social media detox actually backfired on me
I decided to quit all social apps for a full month starting in October. Figured I'd be more productive and less anxious, right? Instead I missed two birthday parties, a work deadline change, and found out my cousin got married through a text three weeks late. I learned that for me, deleting the apps completely just traded one problem for a different set of problems. Has anyone else tried a full digital break and gotten weird results instead of the promised calm?

My cousin actually did the same thing last year and ended up missing a job interview invitation because it went to an email she barely checked. I used to be pretty hardcore about digital minimalism, thought everyone should just delete everything and be fine. But seeing how it actually played out for her and hearing stories like yours, I've totally changed my mind. It's not one size fits all, you know? Sometimes managing things better beats going cold turkey.

Cold turkey works for some people but it backfires hard for others. Your cousin's story is a good example. How do you even balance digital minimalism when a single missed email can cost you a job?
I've seen people go all in and then get screwed by automated systems. Banks, job alerts, bill reminders - all that stuff expects you to stay plugged in.
What's your cousin doing now? Did she go back to checking that email or did she find a way to keep minimalism without losing important things?
