Warning: I used to gatekeep so hard about reading order

Honestly, I'd refuse to read a new character unless I went back to their first appearance from like 1963. Now I just grab a recommended modern trade, like 'Ms. Marvel: No Normal', and jump in. When did you all switch from being completionists to just enjoying the story?

Oh man, I was the same way for years. I finally gave up when I realized I was spending more time tracking down back issues than actually reading anything fun. My advice is to just pick a starting point that looks cool and google any major references you don't get. Most modern writers know new readers are jumping on, so they fill you in on what you need to know. It's way more fun to just enjoy the ride.

But what if the back issues are the fun part? I like piecing the whole story together myself.

Hunting down back issues is half the fun.
