I bought a cheap dive light for a harbor inspection job and it cost me a full day's pay.

I picked up a generic 1000-lumen light online for about $80 to save money before a job in Seattle. On the second dive, the switch flooded at 40 feet and the light died, leaving me in near-zero visibility under a pier. I had to surface and call the day, which meant losing the full $600 day rate. Has anyone found a truly reliable light brand that won't break the bank?

Ugh, my cheap light flooded last month and ruined a whole dive too.

Man that's the worst. My buddy had his cheap backup light flood at like 80 feet on a night dive. Total darkness except for his computer glow. He said it was the longest, creepiest ascent ever just following his little screen. Swore off bargain bin gear after that.

Honestly that's why I always bring a backup light, even on shallow dives.
