Shoutout to the dive crew's chef for flipping my view on pre-dive snacks.

I always ate big meals, but a light bite keeps me sharper down there.

That makes total sense. I used to feel so slow and tired on a full stomach, like my body was too busy with lunch to focus on the dive. A small snack, maybe some fruit or crackers, gives me just enough energy without that heavy feeling. It really is a game changer for staying sharp and comfy underwater. What kind of light bite did you try that worked for you?

Funny you should ask. My go-to was always a granola bar until I dropped one in the water and a curious fish tried to share. Now I stick to plain crackers, less exciting for marine life. But seriously, anything too sugary gives me a weird energy spike and crash, which is no fun when you're decompressing. A banana or some nuts seem to be the sweet spot for me, pun intended. It's all about not feeling like you're digesting a Thanksgiving dinner while navigating coral. Caleb, if you ever try to dive after a big meal, it's like your body is on strike and your brain is on vacation.

Totally get what you mean about that heavy meal feeling. It's like your blood just leaves your brain and goes straight to your stomach to work on digesting, so you're left kind of foggy and slow. Even a really good meal needs a couple hours to settle before you hit the water, in my experience. That's why the light snack thing is so key, it gives you a little fuel without starting a big digestive project. What's your usual wait time after eating before you dive?
