Spent $400 on a used three-door prep cooler off a Facebook post in Chicago, saved my whole weekend
Back in March I was prepping for a 200-person catering gig and my old two-door reach-in was barely holding temp. I found a used three-door True cooler on Facebook Marketplace in Chicago for $400, which felt like a lot for something with a dent in the side. I drove out to a dingy warehouse on the south side, plugged it in for 20 minutes and the temp dropped to 38 fast, so I handed over the cash. That cooler ran all weekend without a hiccup, but the seller never mentioned the compressor was on its last legs, and it died six weeks later. Now I always ask to see the unit running for at least an hour before I buy anything used, has anyone else gotten burned like that?
