Appreciation post: the little free pantry on my block saved me $40 in groceries a week
A retired teacher on my street in Dayton set up a cabinet outside her garage 3 years ago and it's packed with canned stuff and bread most days. I grabbed 6 cans of beans and a loaf on Tuesday and dropped off the extra rice I had sitting in my cupboard. Anybody else got one of these on their block, and does yours actually stay stocked?

Sure, saving forty bucks sounds nice until you realize it's just other broke people covering for a city that won't.
