Picked a local food pantry over a national charity and it felt way better
I was trying to decide where to donate $75 this month between a big national food bank or the small pantry on Oak Street near my apartment. I went with the local one because they post their grocery receipts right on the door. I dropped off cash last Saturday and they let me help bag produce for about 20 minutes... it was nice to actually meet the people running it. Has anyone else had good luck with smaller local groups compared to big ones?

Local spots just hit different, right? I swear they stretch every dollar further too.

Right? I once tried to organize my own little food drive and ended up dropping a whole box of pasta on my foot. At least the local pantry people were nice about it when I limped in.
