Putting my phone away an hour before bed cleared my head

I used to scroll until I passed out and woke up tired. Now I read a book instead and actually feel rested in the morning.

My buddy Mark was the worst for this, he'd be on his phone in bed until 2am. After reading @jennifera82's point about blue light, he decided to try the phone-out-of-room rule. He swapped his nightly scroll for a paperback and said it was like a switch flipped in his brain. Now he falls asleep in minutes and wakes up feeling clear headed, no more morning fog. It's crazy how such a small change made such a big difference for him.

God yes, same here. I was glued to my phone right up until my eyes shut, doomscrolling through terrible news. Swapping that for an actual book, even just a chapter, made my brain actually shut off for once. I fall asleep way faster now and the sleep feels deeper. I even remember my dreams now, which never happened before.

That bit about remembering dreams is so true, @uma_baker99. I read somewhere that the blue light from phones really messes with the sleep cycle.
