Dropped $22 on a monthly parking pass near Union Station and I used it twice
Bought it because my garage was closed for repaving and figured I'd park downtown and walk to the train, but the walk was 14 minutes in the cold and I just drove the whole way instead. So I paid $22 for two days of a space I barely touched. Did anyone actually come out ahead on one of these monthly passes, or is it just a tax on people who hate waking up early?
Bought a monthly pass once and did the math after week one: I was paying about $11 per actual use, which is a solid rate if the product was coffee and not a patch of concrete. The cold walk is the real scam here, because 14 minutes sounds fine until you're doing it at 6:40am and questioning every choice that led you there. You didn't buy parking, you bought the idea of being a person who gets up early and takes the train, and that person did not show up. Next time just put the $22 in a jar and drive to work, at least the jar gives you something back.
