I swore the 7:15 bus was cursed until the driver in Portland showed me the real reason it kept skipping my stop
For 4 months I stood at the same corner on NE Glisan waiting for the 7:15 and watched it blow past me at least twice a week, so I started calling it cursed and planning my whole morning around the 7:30 instead. Then last Tuesday the driver pulled over, pointed at the yellow paint near the curb, and said the bus only stops there when someone is standing on the marked pad, since the sensor won't pick you up if you're 3 feet to the left of it like I always was. How was I supposed to know that after riding this route for a year, and does anyone else have a stop that quietly has a spot you're supposed to stand in?
That "standing on the marked pad" thing would've messed me up too, four months of getting skipped is brutal. I've got a stop where the sign is half hidden behind a tree and the bus only pulls in if you wave, so yeah, you're not alone on the secret spot thing.
