That's actually a pretty smart hack. Might have to try that next time my own machine starts sounding like a jet engine. @kim_patel89 has the right idea with the pencil lift, but sometimes you need more firepower. My old laptop gets so hot it could probably warm up my coffee. A five dollar fan sounds like a solid upgrade from my current method of just blowing on it.

Just prop it up on a pencil to help airflow.
