Rant: paid $180 for a power supply tester and it sat in my bag for 7 months
Bought a $180 PSU tester back in January thinking it would speed up every no-boot ticket, and for 7 months I just kept swapping known-good units like an idiot because pulling the tester out felt like extra work. Two weeks ago a customer's rig in Tampa turned out to have a sagging 12V rail under load, the tester caught it in 30 seconds, and I felt dumb for all those swaps. How do you guys make yourself actually use the tools you buy instead of falling back on old habits?
Man, I did the same thing with a thermal camera for months. What finally worked was putting it right on top of my bench box instead of in a drawer, so it's the first thing I see on every no-boot. Out of sight really does mean out of mind with tools.
