My take on bull floats changed after a brutal summer job

I used to think magnesium floats were the only way to go, but aluminum saved my skin in the heat. It doesn't stick as much when it's hot out. What's your go-to float for summer pours?

You're really getting this worked up about float materials? Look, everything sticks when it's a hundred degrees and you're rushing a finish. Aluminum might be a bit better, but the real trick is keeping the surface wet and not pouring at high noon. It's not exactly a life-changing revelation.

What do you do when the concrete kicks off way too quick? @lily_black44 is right about wetting it down, but that's not always an option. Aluminum floats are lighter and cooler to the touch, which helps. But have you messed with different edgers or trowels too? I found that a combination of tools works best when the heat is brutal.

Yeah, and @lily_black44 has a point about the heat making everything harder.
