I used to think the envelope system was a waste of time, but a trip to the hardware store changed my mind.

I was at the local Ace buying supplies for a job, and I had $200 cash set aside for it. I saw a new tool I wanted, but holding that physical cash made me stop and realize it would blow the budget. That physical limit worked better than any app alert. Does anyone else find that old-school methods click better for certain spending categories?

A quick heads up about frozen fries in the air fryer

Wait, is this really a big deal? I just throw them in too. They get a little soft sometimes but it's fries, not a science project. @sethm74 has a point about preheating, that probably helps more than spacing them out perfectly. If I'm cooking a whole bag I'm not doing multiple batches, that's just annoying. They still taste fine to me even if a few are less crispy.

My Dana 44 axle shaft snapped clean in half on the Rubicon Trail last month, and I had to winch myself out over a mile of granite.

Yeah, a full break like that is no joke. I snapped a rear shaft on my old YJ in Moab, same kind of clean split. Stock shafts are just glass once you add bigger tires. I switched to Yukon after that and haven't had a problem since, even with 37s. That mile long winch out sounds like a special kind of hell.
