Fell for a fake UFO documentary on YouTube and lost $50 on merch
Last month I watched this super convincing video about a government cover-up of alien tech in Nevada. The channel had all these grainy clips and a guy claiming to be a whistleblower. I got so into it I bought their $50 t-shirt and poster bundle. Turns out the whole thing was a creepypasta fan film with fake credits. Has anyone else gotten tricked by one of these well-made conspiracy hoaxes?

The guy in that video used the same "leaked government footage" that's been floating around since 2017. I know because I wasted $30 on a similar "limited edition alien artifact" kit last summer. Here's the thing: if a channel hides their credits or doesn't have any other normal content, that's a red flag. I now always check if the whistleblower has been interviewed by real news outlets or if their name shows up on Snopes. Also never buy anything from a channel less than a year old, even if their production value looks good. You can probably dispute the charge with your bank since the seller used deceptive practices.

Honestly I used to think people were just being paranoid about this stuff but you're totally right, I went back and checked that channel and they had zero normal videos, just that one weird alien thing. Definitely gonna be more careful now.
