Rant: My brother in law won't shut up about birds not being real, and I finally snapped at dinner
Last Sunday at his place in Phoenix he spent 45 minutes explaining how the government swapped out all the pigeons for drones back in the 50s, and when I pointed out that I literally watch birds eat bugs off my lawn every morning he just smirked and said that's what they want you to think. What really got me was how confident he sounded, like he had 3 documentaries and a podcast backing him up, and half the table was nodding along. So for the people who argue this stuff, what is the actual line between having fun with a theory and fully believing it? I honestly can't tell anymore lol.
That's what they want you to think" is exactly what I say when someone catches me talking to a pigeon and I have to play it off. Honestly though, half the table nodding along is way more about not wanting to argue at dinner than actually believing the drone thing.
