TIL the 'Mandela Effect' might just be bad memory, not a glitch
I saw a video about the 'Berenstain Bears' spelling debate and decided to test my own memory. I dug out my old books from my parents' house, and sure enough, every single one said 'Berenstain'. I had bet my buddy $20 it was 'Berenstein'. This whole thing got me looking into how our brains can make up details to fill gaps. It's wild how a whole group can misremember something the same way. Has anyone else had a 'Mandela Effect' moment that you were totally convinced about, but then found proof you were wrong?

My friend swore the Monopoly guy had a monocle until we checked the box.

Two years ago I argued with my brother for ten minutes about this same thing before we finally pulled out the game. I told him to look at the damn box and hoo boy was that a wake-up call. Next time you're sure about something like that, just grab the actual object and check it before you start a fight about it.

Wow, that got me. I was absolutely convinced he wore one too. Your post made me go check my own old game box, and sure enough, no monocle. My whole memory of that is just wrong.
