Tried to prove my brother's moon landing hoax claim wrong with math, took 3 weekends and I still don't know who won
My brother hit me with the old "the flags waving, no wind up there" line at a cookout in July, so I said fine, lets actually do this with numbers instead of just yelling. I grabbed the Apollo 11 press kit, a free NASA photo archive, and sat at my kitchen table for about 9 hours total across 3 weekends checking shadow angles and camera shutter speeds. The math part was honestly not that bad, but I kept going down these rabbit holes about lens distortion and it turned into a whole thing. Now I have a 14 page Google doc and my brother just sends me laughing emojis. Has anyone here actually tried to fact check a family member's theory from scratch, and did it ever change anything or just make it worse?
