Found a weird trick for fixing frizzy bobby pins that actually works

So I had this problem where my bobby pins would get all frizzy and weird after a few washes, making them impossible to slide into hair without snagging. I tried tossing them, tried scrubbing them with soap, nothing helped. Then one day I was lazy and just threw a handful of them in an old sock and ran them through the dryer on low heat for like 10 minutes. They came out smooth and slick again, no joke. I've done it three times now and the same set of 20 pins has lasted me 6 months. Has anyone else tried something like this or got another weird fix for old hair tools?

Wow that's GENIUS honestly. I have the EXACT same problem with my bobby pins getting all bumpy and rough after a while and it drives me CRAZY. The dry heat must be resetting the coating or something, that makes so much sense now that you say it. Thanks for sharing this because I was literally about to go buy new ones this weekend and throw out my whole stash. Definitely trying this tomorrow and I bet it works on those little claw clips too.

Maybe it's just me but I would worry about the heat damaging the coating more in the long run. I tried drying a few claw clips once and they actually got little cracks in the plastic after a couple cycles. Also if the sock gets too hot it could melt the rubbery part on some pins and ruin them. I'd rather just buy a big pack of 50 for 3 bucks every 6 months instead of risking my nice ones.
