A vendor at the Portland Saturday Market watched me underprice my candles by $6 each and I almost ignored her
I was selling my soy candles at the Portland Saturday Market two weeks ago and a veteran vendor named Carol stopped at my table. She pointed at my $8 price tag and said I was losing money on every pour once you count wax, wicks, jars, and the booth fee. I did the math that night and she was right, my real cost was closer to $9.50 per candle, so I was paying people to buy them. I raised prices to $14 and sold almost the same number the next weekend, which still feels weird to type. Has anyone else had another seller call out their pricing like that?
