Pricing my crochet work took 4 weeks, not the 1 afternoon everyone promised
All those blog posts make it sound like you add materials plus hourly wage and done. I sat down with a spreadsheet last month and spent 3 hours just on the yarn cost for one blanket. Then I asked 5 different sellers in my local Facebook group and got prices ranging from $45 to $180 for the same size. The real kicker was learning about overhead like packaging, Etsy fees, and the 2 hours I spent photographing in bad light. It took me until week 4 to land on a price that people would actually pay without me hating myself for the time. Anyone else spend way longer than expected on pricing, or did you just wing it from day one?
