Hit 10,000 hours of crane time last month and it's got me thinking about the old school vs new school debate

On one side, the old guys say seat time and feel are everything, but I'm seeing younger operators run these new computer-assisted cranes that can auto-level and avoid tip-overs. Which matters more at the end of the day, raw experience or the tech that's taking over?

Used to be ALL about the tech, honestly thought it made old timers obsolete. But reading what you said about muscle memory and glitches really flipped my perspective. Now I see the real value is having both the skills and backing it up with that raw feel.

Ngl, the "auto-leveling" thing is exactly what scares the old guys, but here's what nobody talks about. The real danger is when the tech glitches or updates mid lift, and you don't have the muscle memory to override it. That raw feel for when something's about to tip is hard to beat when screens go dark.
