Saw a 20-year-old swing joint fail at a site near Dallas
We were lifting a 12-ton HVAC unit on a retrofit job and the swing joint on the 80-ton crawler started binding up in the middle of the pick. The operator said he'd never greased it since he bought the crane used in 2019, and the pins showed heavy wear when we dropped the boom. Has anyone else run into swing joint issues on older machines that seemed fine on paper but failed under real load?

Did you check the grease fittings before the lift, or just trust it looked fine?
