Switched from hand signals to a radio setup on a big crawler job last month

Used to rely on hand signals for everything but lost sight of the load in a tight corner at a refinery site in Baton Rouge and nearly had a close call. Now I go with a two-way radio setup and it's so much easier to communicate on the fly. Anyone else make that switch and find it awkward at first?

Nope, radios saved my ass too.

Whoa, hold on, you lost sight of the load entirely? That's terrifying, I can't believe you didn't have a spotter the whole time.

Wait, you had a close call at a refinery and didn't have a spotter the whole time? @vera_lewis I'm pretty sure my heart would've just... stopped right there. I almost made the same mistake on a job in Pensacola, but now I just yell into the radio like a lunatic. Still feels weird but beats waving my arms around like I'm trying to land a plane.
