I just spent $60 on a password manager and it already saved my bacon

I always thought writing them down was fine until my notebook got soaked in a coffee spill last week. Now I see the value in having everything encrypted and backed up. Has anyone else had a close call that made them switch their security habits?

I read about a guy who lost all his passwords in a house fire, that really stuck with me. A coffee spill is a much gentler wake-up call! It's definitely worth the peace of mind to have a secure backup.

Oh man, my buddy forgot his main email password and got totally locked out of everything for a week. He had to reset every single account by hand, it was a nightmare. That's why I keep a backup now.

A coffee spill is a pretty easy fix, you just rewrite what you can remember. My bigger worry is putting all my digital keys in one basket that gets hacked. Those password manager companies are huge targets, and if they get breached, you're totally exposed. I'd rather trust my own memory and a few simple variations than a single point of failure online.
