I signed up for a yearly premium password manager subscription, thinking it was worth the cash to keep everything locked down across my phone and laptop. The sales pitch was all about zero-knowledge encryption and seamless auto-fill, so I figured $180 for 12 months was a fair deal. Fast forward to last Tuesday, and the app suddenly refused to sync my new credentials, locking me out of my own bank login until I jumped through two-factor recovery hoops. On the flip side, I used the same tool after a phishing attempt in March and it caught the fake site before I typed anything, so I can't say it's all trash. Honestly, I'm torn whether free options like a basic vault plus a hardware key would've done the same job without the price tag.
