That time a simple password reset took me three days to figure out
Back in 2018, I was locked out of an old admin panel because the 'forgot password' email just would not send. I spent two days checking spam filters and mail server logs before I realized the system was trying to send the reset link to an old, decommissioned internal email address that was still hard-coded in a config file. The fix was changing one line of text, but finding it was a nightmare. Anyone else ever waste a weekend on a config file from five years ago?

Ugh, this is the worst kind of problem. It's like when you spend an hour looking for your keys and they were in the first pocket you checked. So much of our digital world is held together by these forgotten settings and old defaults. My smart lights stopped working for a week because my phone was trying to talk to an old router name. The fix took two seconds, but finding that out felt like detective work. It's crazy how much time we lose to these invisible, leftover rules.

My old car's GPS still tries to take me to my last apartment. I kind of like how tech keeps those little ghosts of past decisions around.
