The old lady at the Hollis tag sale who priced everything at a dollar

I stopped by this tiny tag sale off Route 130 back in October, mostly for a rusty garden rake, but she had a milk crate full of hand knit mittens for a buck each. She told me her husband used to sell them at the Nashua farmers market, and she just wanted them gone before the snow hit, so she watched me pick out three pairs and tossed in a fourth free. Anyone else have a yard sale seller who basically gave stuff away just to clear a table?

That October timing is suspicious though. You sure she was actually trying to clear space, or just baiting you into taking more crap home? I've seen that move before where people act all generous but really they just don't want to haul the leftover junk back inside. And the free fourth pair, that's not a deal, that's her saving herself a trip to Goodwill. You paid four bucks for three pairs of mittens you probably didn't need in the first place. Sounds like she got the better end of that swap honestly.
