Hot take: afternoon happy hours beat evening networking events every time
I went to a 4pm mixer at a Greektown spot last week and made three solid contacts in 45 minutes, but last month's 6pm event at a downtown hotel had me trapped in small talk for two hours. Has anyone else noticed the earlier ones draw more serious business folks who actually follow up?

Totally, last week I grabbed a drink at 4pm and ended up closing a deal before dinner.
