Update: I was collecting business cards at every mixer and it was backfiring
For about 8 months I was leaving every Detroit event with a pocket full of cards and never following up on any of them. A guy at a Corktown coffee meetup asked me what I actually remembered about the last person I'd met, and I had nothing, so now I just aim for 2 real conversations per event. Has anyone else found that fewer, deeper chats actually get you further than working the whole room?
Wait, so you were just collecting cards like Pokemon and never actually calling anyone? That Corktown guy did you a favor honestly. I did the same thing at a thing in Ferndale last year and found cards in my jacket like three months later, felt like a total goof. Two real talks sounds way less stressful than working the whole room anyway.
