Update: Picked my first networking group after 3 months of overthinking
I finally made a call between the local chamber of commerce and a smaller industry specific group over on Livernois. Went with the smaller crew because they meet at 7am and I can stop by on my way back from a drop off. Chamber was $400 a year and this one is only $150 so that sealed it for me. First meeting was last Thursday and honestly I was expecting awkward introductions and bad coffee. Instead I got a legit lead on a logistics company that needs weekend drivers. Three people asked for my card and one guy actually followed up the same day. Has anyone else had better luck with the niche groups versus the big ones around here?

The $150 price point is a steal compared to what I've seen around here. @gavin_reed's point about cutting through the noise makes sense since my experience with big chambers was all handshakes and no follow through. How did the lead on those weekend drivers turn out by the end of the week?

Read an article a while back that said niche groups usually give you better returns because everybody there actually needs each other. The big chambers can be good for visibility but the smaller ones cut through the noise faster. Sounds like you picked the right one.
