Am I the only one who thinks you shouldn't just crank down on every bolt with an impact?

I watched a guy at our shop in Boise snap three head bolts on a 6.7 Powerstroke last week because he refused to use a torque wrench for the final pass. It's not about speed, it's about the right spec. How do you guys handle techs who treat every fastener like it needs to be 'impact tight'?

Yeah, that's a rough one to watch. Honestly, I've seen guys get away with it on some stuff, but head bolts are definitely not the place to skip the torque wrench.

How is that even a gamble people take? I get wanting to save time but head bolts are literally holding your engine together. A torque wrench costs like 30 bucks and saves you a whole motor.

My buddy tried to save time on a head gasket job and just went by feel. Warped the head so bad it looked like a potato chip, cost him a whole new engine.
