I used to just eyeball the torque on head studs until a 6.7 Powerstroke in Boise blew a head gasket

That was three months ago, and the customer's bill for the tow and full teardown was over $4k. Now I use a Snap-on TechAngle wrench for every single one and follow the factory torque sequence to the letter. It takes longer, but I'm not eating that cost again. Anyone else get burned by skipping a step on a modern high-pressure diesel?

That's why I see people cutting corners everywhere now, like @wyatt_shah85 said, and it always comes back to bite you.

Oh man, I feel that! I learned the hard way on a Duramax that "good enough" isn't good enough anymore. That one shortcut cost me a whole weekend and my pride.

Learned that same lesson on a 6.0 back in the day, @wyatt_shah85, cost me a weekend and a fist-shaped dent in my toolbox. Now I torque everything twice and check it three times like it's got a personal vendetta against my wallet. Nothing builds character like a $4k mistake that could've been avoided with ten extra minutes.
