Showerthought: I watched a brand new turbocharger eat itself on a dyno run in Tacoma
We were doing a final test on a rebuilt 6.7 Powerstroke, everything looked perfect. On the third pull, it made a sound like a bag of bolts in a blender. The wastegate actuator rod had snapped clean off, letting the turbo overspin until the compressor wheel touched the housing. We shut it down, but the damage was done. Anyone ever have a brand new part fail that catastrophically right out of the box?

Had a new water pump seize on a fresh small block build. The casting had a hidden flaw that cracked under heat. What did you end up doing for the Powerstroke, going with a factory turbo or trying another aftermarket one?
