That old timer who told me to never trust a reman injector without swapping the copper washers first

I blew a head gasket on a 2015 Cummins ISL last spring because I skimped on those $8 washers (thought I knew better, which is always a mistake) and now I replace them every single time without question, anyone else have a cheap part cost them big?

And honestly it's like that with everything now isn't it, you skip one little thing and the whole domino effect starts. I've learned the hard way that the cheap stuff is usually what holds everything together, same reason I don't buy bargain bin oil filters anymore. It's funny how the smallest parts end up being the most important ones in the long run.

Honestly the real lesson is never hire a mechanic who talks like a philosopher.
