Can we talk about that artist at Anime Expo who barely lived through their own CNC mishap?
I was at Anime Expo in LA last summer, booth 314. Some digital artist had a CNC router hooked up to carve their designs into wood panels. Machine caught a loose cable, dragged the router head across their forearm. 6 stitches and a lot of blood. They were a big name too, had a line of 40 people waiting. After that I unplugged my rig whenever I swapped bits. Do you guys run emergency stops on your CNC setups or just wing it?

Were you there when they finally got the thing shut down, or did you see it happen from a distance? I've always wondered if the machine had a proper e-stop or if someone had to just physically yank the cord. Seems like the kind of thing conventions should be checking before they let anyone set up.

Nah, I wasn't there myself but a buddy of mine was working the event and told me the whole thing. He said there was no e-stop at all, the guy running the booth just reached behind the thing and ripped the power cord out of the wall, sparks flying everywhere. @bettywilson I think the convention organizers definitely learned that one the hard way.
