Saw a digital painting demo at a small gallery last weekend
I walked into this little art space downtown called The Pixel Loft. Just browsing. An artist was showing how she builds landscapes in Procreate. She layered clouds first then added mountains behind them. It was backwards from what I always do. She said it gives more depth when you start with the atmosphere. I tried it on a piece when I got home. Totally changed how my sunset looks now. The whole process took her 20 minutes but felt like magic to watch. Anyone else pick up tricks from watching other artists work in person?

Ngl, 20 minutes for that whole layered landscape thing sounds insane. I would've guessed at least an hour for that kind of detail. Honestly makes me feel like I'm moving in slow motion compared to her.

Hear you @wendy_park76, 20 mins is wild fast for that. She barely overlapped colors too, just let em bleed naturally. Makes me wanna ditch the dry brushing and just slap paint around like she does.

20 minutes for a whole layered landscape? That's blowing my mind right now. I spend like an hour just trying to get the sky right on most pieces and she's out here doing entire scenes in the time it takes me to pick a brush. The part where she layered clouds first before mountains is what's really getting me though. That's so backwards from what I've always done but it makes total sense when you think about it. Gotta try that this weekend even if it takes me 3 hours instead of 20 minutes.
