My neighbor's 87-year-old mom taught me the 3-folder inbox trick last Sunday

She said 'if it doesn't fit in three folders, you don't need it,' and now my 1,200 emails from 5 years are down to 40 in two weeks, has anyone else tried something that brutally simple?

Wait, has anyone else noticed how the old-school tricks are always the ones that actually work? My buddy Dave had the same problem with his work email, like 900 unread messages just sitting there, and he told me his grandma did the same kind of thing but with paper mail. She made him sort everything into "do today," "do this week," and "maybe never," and he said it was honestly scary how fast his anxiety dropped. He ended up deleting half his work emails that were just company newsletters and event invites he never read anyway. Now he does a quick 5-minute purge every Friday and his inbox stays under 50, which sounds fake but he swears by it. It's funny how we all overcomplicate stuff when the simplest rule, like three folders, just cuts through all the mess.
