Warning: I booked a 'coffee shop with wifi' in Medellin for a full work day.
The place had one outlet and the wifi cut out every 20 minutes. I ended up finishing my project using my phone's hotspot at a park bench. Has anyone found a reliable way to check a spot's workability before you go?

Ugh that's the worst, feels like every "laptop friendly" cafe is a gamble. I saw a blog post once that said to check the location tags on Instagram for recent photos, people often snap pics of the actual seating and outlets. Also those "digital nomad" city guides sometimes call out specific spots with strong, stable wifi but you gotta check the date on those posts. Honestly I've started just going to coworking spaces for important work days, the day pass is worth not dealing with the stress.

Can't argue with that logic.

Yeah that sounds so frustrating. I like what miab87 said about checking Instagram photos, that's a smart move. I've also had good luck just asking in local Facebook groups for the area.
