Just found out the PS5 fan connector is actually a standard 4-pin PWM header
I was digging through a schematics PDF on the PS5 motherboard last night from the console mods wiki, and I couldn't believe it. Turns out the stock fan connection uses a standard 4-pin PWM header, not some proprietary Sony thing. That means you can swap in any 120mm PC fan with the right adapter for like $15. Has anyone here tried using a Noctua fan in their PS5 yet?

Wait, wouldn't that mess up the PS5's air pressure curve though?

I mean my buddy tried something similar with his PS5 and it definitely messed things up. He thought he was being clever by tilting the console on its side to help with airflow. But then the fan started making this weird whirring noise after like a week. He checked the air pressure curve thing and realized the blades were hitting the casing because the alignment was off. Ended up having to send it in for repairs. So yeah, maybe that stuff matters more than people think.
