Spent 6 hours on a simple shelf install. Should have been 45 minutes.

Went to put up a floating shelf in the living room last Saturday. Found the studs, marked everything, drilled pilot holes. Then realized the drywall anchors I bought were the wrong size for the bracket. Ran to Home Depot twice because I kept grabbing the wrong package. Next time I'm measuring the hardware before I even leave the house. Anyone else waste a whole afternoon on something that should be quick?

Did you at least keep the command strips from the curtain rod project for the next time something goes sideways? I've got a whole drawer of random anchors and half-used strip packs from projects that turned into disasters. At this point my junk drawer is basically a memorial to every Saturday I lost to a "quick" 45 minute job.

Oh man, that is SO painfully familiar. I spent a whole Saturday trying to hang a single curtain rod because the bracket holes didn't line up with the studs, and I ended up patching three extra holes in the drywall before I gave up and just used command strips. Now I just assume any "quick" project is really a full day affair so I don't get disappointed. At least your shelf is up now, right??
