That cheap paint sprayer from the big box store cost me $400 in wasted paint and time

I grabbed a $89 handheld sprayer last month for my living room in Columbus, thinking I'd save hours vs rolling. Spent a whole Sunday fighting with it, paint spitting everywhere, clogging every 10 minutes, and I ended up with streaks all over the walls. Then I had to buy $150 more paint to redo it with a roller anyway, plus a $60 tarp for the floor I ruined. Total loss was around $400 and a full weekend I'll never get back. I should've just rented a decent one for $60 or stuck with a brush. Has anyone else had a cheap tool turn into a bigger expense than just doing it right the first time?
