Thought I could re-grout my bathroom floor in an afternoon

The old grout was way more stubborn than I expected, and I spent two whole days just chipping it all out with a manual scraper. What's the fastest way you've found to remove old grout without damaging the tile?

My last bathroom reno had me chipping at grout for three days straight before I gave up. I bought a cheap oscillating multi-tool from Harbor Freight and a diamond grout removal blade. That thing ate through the old grout in a couple hours. Just go slow on the corners so you don't nick the tile.

Those diamond blades can still chip tile edges pretty easy though.

The oscillating tool trick is a lifesaver. It's funny how we always think these jobs will be fast and simple because we see the final result but never the messy middle part. It's kind of like how people assume cooking a good meal takes twenty minutes when really it's all the prep and cleanup that eats up your whole afternoon. We just don't account for the hidden work that makes something look easy. That grout removal is the perfect example of it. So much of life is just getting through the boring, gritty stuff before you can see the payoff.
