Changed my mind about those cheap phone screen kits from Amazon

Bought a $15 kit for my Pixel 6a. Followed the video, but the adhesive was junk and the screen had a green tint. Wasted an hour and the phone. Ended up paying $80 at a local shop to fix my mess. Anyone know a good brand for screen adhesive strips?

Honestly had the total opposite experience last month. Grabbed a kit for my old S20 and it worked perfectly fine. The trick is warming up the back glass really well before you try to peel it off. That cheap adhesive needs a lot of heat to let go cleanly. Maybe the Pixel is just harder to work on, but those kits can be totally okay.

Yeah but come on, is a slightly tricky adhesive really that big of a deal? It's just a phone back, not a heart transplant. If a bit of extra heat fixes it, that's a pretty standard fix for most glued-on parts. Sounds like the kits are fine, you just gotta follow the steps and not rush it. Making it sound like some huge failure seems a bit much.
