Had to choose between patching my monitor or buying a used one, went with the patch

Tbh my 27 inch LG from 2016 started getting these vertical lines last month. I watched like 4 videos on replacing the ribbon cable inside. Seemed doable. Ordered a replacement strip for $18 off ebay. Took me about 2 hours with a hairdryer and plastic spudger. Lines gone. Works fine now. My buddy kept telling me to just grab a used one off facebook marketplace for like $80. But honestly the fix was easier than I thought. The hardest part was getting the bezel off without cracking it. Has anyone else tried this on an older panel and had it hold up? Curious if it's a temporary thing.
