Just fixed my 100th busted headphone jack this morning

It hit me that I've been doing this same simple solder repair since my high school days in 2008. What's the oldest gadget you still regularly fix for people?

My 2009 iPod Classic still needs a new hard drive every couple years. I keep a stack of old parts just for it.

Yeah, it's that whole thing where the old tech just becomes a part of your life. You end up with a drawer full of weird cables for stuff that died a decade ago, or you're hunting for a specific kind of light bulb because your favorite lamp doesn't make them anymore. It's not really about the iPod itself, it's about keeping a little piece of your world running the way you like it, even if it means a pile of spare parts.

My 2006 iPod has three dead batteries in a drawer.
