Laptop hinge cracked after 4 years, replaced it with a $9 bracket

My 2019 Dell started creaking last month and one day the screen just flopped back. The plastic hinge mount had snapped clean off. I looked up a replacement part and it was $60, plus shipping. Then I found a metal repair bracket on Amazon for $9 and drilled two small holes in the existing base. Took me 20 minutes with a screwdriver and it holds tighter than the original. Has anyone else used those metal brackets instead of swapping the whole lid assembly?

Honestly that bracket trick probably outlasts any factory hinge anyway!
