Old laptop fan vs compressed air, the winner was obvious

My 2015 Dell kept shutting down mid spreadsheet after about 2 hours of work. I tried the software route first, cleaned out temp files and updated drivers, still died. Yesterday I took off the bottom panel and hit the fan and heatsink with a $7 can of air from Target. The dust clump that came out was honestly gross, like a mini felt blanket. Booted it up and ran a stress test for 4 hours without a single crash. Anyone else put off cleaning the inside and regretted it?

That "mini felt blanket" line got me, my old HP had the same thing and I was honestly shocked it still ran at all. Same exact story here, one $8 can of air and a few minutes with a screwdriver turned a crashing mess into a machine that runs all day now.
