One customer's phone battery tip changed how I fix things now
Had a guy come in last Tuesday at the bar, he saw me fussing with a dead phone and told me to check the charging port with a toothpick before buying a new battery. Turns out there was a solid layer of pocket lint packed in there, cleaned it out and it charged like new. He said it's the first thing he tries on any gadget that stops charging, saved me $50 on a battery kit. Anyone else got a dumb simple fix that beats replacing parts every time?

Gotta say I see it the other way. A toothpick in the port is fine if it's lint, but half the dead phones I've messed with had bent or corroded pins in there, and poking around just pushes the crud deeper or snaps a pin off. Then you're out way more than the $50 you saved. I'd rather hit it with a shot of compressed air first, then a soft brush, and only go in with something pointy if I can actually see what I'm digging at. The toothpick guy got lucky that his problem was just lint. Did the port still feel tight when you plugged the cable back in, or was it loose after all that digging?
